This website has been established to provide information to help South Florida’s tropical fruit and vegetable growers to understand and comply with the new Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) that requires adopting a farm-specific Food Safety plan. A Food Safety plan will guide growers in farm practices that reduce the risk of contamination of crops grown for market.
We will periodically update this website with notices about educational meetings and workshops, new articles, links to websites about Food Safety, suggested record-keeping forms, and other information relevant to developing customized Food Safety plans. Check this website often to get the latest information and upcoming events as we work to help you develop your own Food Safety plan. Sample plans will be available in conjunction with public workshops that explain and demonstrate their use.
